Impalas will be recalled to inspect the power steering fluid hose. If improperly installed, the hose can melt due to close proximity to the catalytic converter, causing a fluid leak and potentially a fire. 10,334 affected Impalas are in the United States, while the rest are in Canada. The cars were built between April 19 and July 29 at GM’s production facility in Oshawa, Ontario.
4,293 LaCrosses are also being recalled to address a faulty “StabiliTrak” stability control system calibration. As currently configured, the system could fail to detect a sensor malfunction and not illuminate a warning light. The sensor malfunction, in turn, could lead to the stability control improperly activating, making the car’s handling unpredictable. Of the total LaCrosses affected, 4,077 are in the United States while the rest are in Canada. All were manufactured between June 9 and July 2.
GM has stated it is not aware of any injuries or crashes related to the issues.
